Life Legacy:
James "Jim" Edward Johnson, 74, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 in Seattle, Washington. Jim was born in Monroe, Louisiana on September 6, 1940 to Herbert and Cloteal Johnson. He attended Little Flower Academy and Carroll High School in Louisiana. He received a Degree in Business Management from West Los Angeles College in 1976 and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from University of Redlands in 1983. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1958 to 1963. Post his military experience, Jim was employed as a general contractor for 30+ years, initially working for ITT Industries in Southern California prior to establishing his own contracting company, JEJ Enterprises. He gave generously of his time, spending many years as President of the Cheviot Hills Little League and as Board of Director member of Inroads, Inc. Jim loved sports and enjoyed playing, coaching and watching sports throughout his life. He loved to sing and often serenaded family and friends. He also enjoyed cooking and mastered the fine art of barbecuing which he was always happy to share with others. Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Vi; mother, Cloteal; daughter, Deidria; Four sons: Troy, Derrick, Anthony and Jay; brother Herbert Jr.; as well as many loving grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert Sr. and his brother, Jackie. Jim will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a loving father, successful business man, distinguished scholar, supportive friend, and US Air Force veteran. A special thank you to the Divine Care Home in Seattle for their loving care and support during Jim's final days. Services are planned for Friday, November 7, 2014 at 11:00am at the Chapel at Holy Cross Mortuary in Culver City, CA. The burial will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Additionally, there will be visitation hours available for family and friends on Thursday, November 6th between 5pm and 8pm.
