Obituary

On February 28, 2013 at age 81, Kenneth W. Clark went to be with the Lord. A strong person, he was also caring and generous. A gentle soul. Ken loved the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, fishing, hunting and gardening. He loved reading and was an avid reader of all types of books, particularly military history, mysteries and spy novels. He was a poet, and his poems covered a wide variety of topics from nature to babies to the horrors of war. More recently, he particularly enjoyed writing haiku and senryu poetry. Born in Oklahoma, his family moved to California when he was a young boy where he grew up. He spent time in Alaska in the 1970s, and his time there left a lasting impression on him and his poetry. He served in the Army from September 1948 to September 1953, and he served in the Korean War where he was wounded. For his service he received a Purple Heart, a Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Service Medal and a Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. Years later, he dealt with this time in some of his poetry. He is survived by his wife Julie, his 'kids' Brad and Monica, Janet and Rick, and Michael and Sun, his grandchildren Noreen, Brandon and Gracie, and other family members and friends he held dear.
