Ann THOMPSON Obituary

Ann Thompson was born in Sunderland, England on August 11, 1924, and died on January 12, 2015. She left school at the age of 14 and moved to London to work in a munitions factory supporting the war effort. She met LeRoy (Tom) Thompson, a Chief Petty Officer in the Navy stationed in London, and they later married. She immigrated to the United States with hundreds of other war brides on the HMS Queen Elizabeth, and was joined by her husband in Oregon. Ann and her husband moved to the Seattle area in the early fifties, and had two daughters. Ann worked preparing airline meals for the Host Company, demonstrated samples of Oberto products, and retired from her job as a mail handler for the US Post Office. In 2004, Ann moved to the Weatherly Inn, an Alzheimer care facility, where she received care for the rest of her years. Ann loved walking, which gave her the opportunity to meet many people in the Burien area. She loved people, gardening, shopping, chocolate, coffee, and music. Ann is survived by both daughters, Debra Becker(husband Bill) and Susan Kaas, as well as two grandchildren, Matt Becker (wife Jamie) and Allison Becker, and a sister, Gladys Conachan.
