Clarence G. Wood of Snohomish, WA died peacefully March 14 at Evergreen Hospital. He was born in Miles City, MT on September 15, 1927. Throughout his youth his family moved many times in pursuit of work and wages, as did so many families during the depression. He joined the US Navy in 1944 and served in the South Pacific where, among many adventures, he witnessed the testing of Hydrogen bombs at the Bikini Atolls. Returning from the service he met the love of his life, Frances Spinelli, and they were married in 1953. Clarence and Frances settled in North Seattle and raised 5 children. In 1977 they moved to their lakeside property near Snohomish and built their dream home. After Clarence’s retirement in 1981 they spent every day enjoying each other’s company, working on their farm and garden, and spending time with family and friends. Clarence had many gifts - he was intelligent, kind, musical, humble, patient, and hard-working. His greatest gifts were his sense of humor and ability to listen. His wife Frances was the greatest joy in his life. When she passed in 2008 Clarence faced his final years with grace and courage. In 2010, diagnosed with both Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s he moved to the Vineyard Park Assisted Living Home in Bothell, where he quickly became integrated to that community. He was happy there and made others happy there too. Clarence is survived by five children and 11 grandchildren, his sisters, Hazel and Wilma, brother Pat, and numerous nieces and nephews. We will all miss a wonderful dad, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Funeral Services will be held at Holy Rood Cemetery in Shoreline WA, at 1:00, Saturday, March 24.
