John William SAMMALISTO

"Sam" was born on June 13, 1928 in Mt Iron, Minnesota to Alex and Olga Sammalisto. He Passed away on November 25, 2014 at his home in Renton, WA after a prolonged disability. He married Elizabeth Kristine Pardee nee Smith on August 17, 1966. "Sam" served in the United States Air Force from 1946-1949, and was called back to duty from 1951-1952 for the Korean War. While in the service, he was trained to work on aircraft engines. Though the Air Force, he went on to become a certified and licensed aircraft mechanic. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the UN Service Medal, and the Korean Service Medal when he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. In addition to being a n Aircraft Mechanical Engineer, "Sam" also earned his pilot's license. He was employed with Western, Northwest and Alaska Airlines. He went on to work for Boeing until he retired in 1990. "Sam" had 4 children and 3 step-children. He was pre-deceased by his parents, sister and one daughter.
