A loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, Marian Xuan Pham-Nguyen drew her last breath on August 25, 2021 surrounded by her family at home. Spending her life nurturing and spreading love to friends and family, the lost of her life was immediately felt by all in her room. God brought her into this world on January 9, 1960 in Bien Hoa, Vietnam born to the late Vuong Nguyen and Phuc Vu. As one of the older siblings in a large family, Marian’s early life was engraved with the importance of taking care of family by looking after and cooking for her younger siblings while her parents worked to provide for their children.
In Vietnam she met the love of her life, Christopher, who openly swears that she is the most beautiful woman in this world to this day after 40 wonderful years of marriage. Shortly after their marriage and giving birth to their first daughter, Tracy, Marian and Christopher were faced with the reality of their war-torn country and decided to pursue a better life in America. After many attempts to escape and a perilous journey that included evading gunfire and a stint in prison, they made their way to the Philippines where they had their second daughter, Angie. Following months of preparation and dedication, they arrived in America in 1989. Having only a small amount of knowledge of English, Marian paved the way for her family to find success in America. Settling in Kent, Washington Marian went on to grow her family with the birth of daughter, Diana, and son, Anthony. An avid cook, Marian went on to open a restaurant to share cultural Vietnamese dishes and provide for her family.
Known to spread happiness through her cooking, Marian spent her life ensuring that no stomaches went empty or unsatisfied in her family. Notorious for being the last to sit down for a meal, Marian made sure the plates were filled for others before herself; even through the constant nagging of her children for her to join. With a contagious laughter that would fill the room, Marian enjoyed family gatherings where she shined with her big heart. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. A proud Catholic, Marian was dedicated in her beliefs and adored by her church and community.
Marian is survived by her loving husband, Christopher, her four children Tracy, Angie, Diana, and Anthony, her granddaughter, Adeline, her mother Phuc Vu, her siblings, Tam, Thuy, Phong, Huyen, and Thao. If a lesson were said to be imparted on her family, it would be to love and care for those that bring joy to your life.
